| Mindsoundscapes - "Evangelion" Review |
Following their debut single "Timetraveller" on Media Records / ZYX, the german trance duo, Simon Fischer and Peter Miethig, have blessed us with another supreme piece of melodic trance under their Mindsoundscapes project name. The new single "Evangelion" will be released in February 2007 on Tillmann Uhrmacher's MaxiMal label. Read on for more details about this tune....
Limited promos of the Fischer & Miethig Remix were very well received over the latter part of 2006 with plays on ETN, BBC Radio 1, VONYC, Digitally Imported and Ministry Of Sound Radio. Promos including the new Tillmann Uhrmacher Remix will be distributed in January. TheTranceArena.com's verdict: Mindsoundscapes - "Evangelion" (Tillmann Uhrmacher Remix): The first mix of this three mix package is from the label owner himself - Tillmann Uhrmacher - producer of the classic "On The Run" tune. This remix kicks off in a driving, energetic style with a pounding bassline and crisp kick-drums. A powerful synth helps to give the intro some extra bite as it builds up. The breakdown consists of an emotional Trancey melody accompanied with a digitised female vocal, before slowly kicking back into the main melody. The melody starts off powerful with a gutsy bassline and light stabbing which creeps in and out, before working towards a more lighter, atmospheric direction which leads towards the outro. I really like this remix - its has energetic moments, and also some calmer moments which compliment each other well. The bassline really grabs you, and the vocal is very effective too. Very well produced and a tune that will sound fresh for a good few months yet. 9/10 Mindsoundscapes - "Evangelion" (Fischer & Miethig Main Mix): The Fischer & Miethig Main Mix also kicks off with a pounding bassline, which is accompanied with a light, stabbing chord before building up with extra percussive elements and a dramatic build-up. The main melody is very subtle – with light chords and the occasional sweeping, ‘tougher’ chords to help give it a little more edge. The breakdown is also very calm to begin with, before building up to a huge hands-in-the-air style breakdown similar to the style which Matt Hardwick and Alex M.O.R.P.H are famous for. Like the Tillmann Urhmacher remix, this is superbly produced, and one that won’t sound stale over time. This remix is what Trance is all about – powerful and emotional. If there’s one track that will make the hairs on your neck stand on end at a Christmas gig this year, then this is it. I can imagine this really taking the roof off at somewhere like Gatecrasher. Not quite as energetic and driving as the Tillmann mix, but definitely more emotional. Superb! 9/10 Mindsoundscapes - "Evangelion" (Stoneprophet Remix): The Stoneprophet remix starts off with a slightly more ‘banging’ bassline and less percussive elements – instead, relying more around stabbing, heavily-synthesized Trancey chords to do the work for the first part of the tune, before it slowly works down towards a more calmer direction to help work towards the breakdown. The breakdown on this version is the best of the three remixes – very powerful indeed, and so emotional, it almost brings a tear to the eye – just like Trance did in the late 90’s. However, I didn’t think the melody was as good as the other two mixes, and in some parts, the bassline and percussive elements didn’t seem very clear – leaving a kind of ‘mushy’ sound, which is a great shame. I think if this breakdown was used in the Fischer & Miethig remix, it would have been rated 10/10 because it’s absolutely superb, but unfortunately, the rest of the tune lets this remix down. Great breakdown but not much else on offer. 7/10 DJ FEEDBACK: Release Date: November 2007 - OUT NOW!
