For all Trance fans new and old alike, here is a list of the must listen Trance music CDs.
Trance Nation:
Trance Nation One
Trance Nation Two
Trance Nation Three
Trance Nation Four
Trance Nation 2001
Trance Nation 2002
Trance Nation was a great series. First released on "Ministry Of Sound" just after the summer of 1999. Ferry Corsten mixed them up until Trance Nation 2002.
Trance Nation One and Two are the stand out compilations with Three and Four being a bit obvious in the choice of music. 2001 was a vast improvement on Three and Four but the track selection is a lot more "Progressive".
Trance Nation 2002 is the last one to be mixed by Ferry Corsten and is easily the poorest of the lot. Avoid anything after 2002 like the plague.
Gatecrasher:Gatecrasher: Black
Gatecrasher: Red
Gatecrasher: Wet
If i wanted to i could have not bothered with any other compilations except these three. Black, Red and Wet were released on INCredile between November 1998 and August 1999 and now go for on average £30 on Ebay.
If you listen to Trance then you most likely have heard of Gatecrasher. Without Gatecrasher, Scott Bond, Matt Hardwick, Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk and maybe Tiesto Trance would not be as it is today.
if im honest stop reading here. Get all three of those CDs. Put them on. Sit back and admire the tunage. Trust me, you have never heard 6 Cds where every single track is a corker.
(if you cant get all three CDs there is a solution. Ask Lazarus about his Modern Classics sets. 5 mixes from a Gatecrasher regular who has heard some of the biggest tunes ever being played in the enviroment they where made for.)
Tiesto:
Magik:
Magik One: First Flight
Magik Two: Story Of The Fall
Magik Three: Far From Earth
Magik Four: A New Adventure
Magik Five: Heaven Beyond
Magik Six: Live In Amsterdam
Magik Seven: Live In Los Angeles
In Search Of Sunrise:
In Search of Sunrise 1
In Search Of Sunrise 2
In Search Of Sunrise 3: Panama
We all know who DJ Tiesto is. Tall dutch bloke, arms reaching for the lasers, big grin. Ferry Corstens production partner for a few of the Gouryella Tracks. Ferry Corsten made 1999 yet Tiesto is still riding the wave.
Magik One was released way back in 1996 so as you can imagine the tracks are less 1999 sounding and have a more Epic House feel to them which is definetly not a bad thing. Magik Three is my favourite of the series, La Paloma and Breathe In You are two of my favourite tracks. La Paloma is also featured on Gatecrasher: Black.
The In Search of Sunrise series was realeased in July 1999. In Search Of Sunrise 1 features some of the greatest Trance tracks ever made and is my favourite of the Series. Tijs has released
In Search Of Sunrise 4: South America and
In Search of Sunrise 5: Los Angeles but as they are quite new and are nothing compared to the CDs in this thread they wont be included.
