.....from the past 10 years which you think sum up the genre for you better than any others.
So basically that's not like the old old classics, it's from the heyday and beyond up to the present.
Anyone mentioning Deadmau5 will be shot
I'll start!
1. William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten remix) (1998)
For me, easily Ferry's finest moment from a truly monumental repertoire. It blends the classical element of trance with the synthesized bass in probably the most perfect of all trance breakdowns that there is. Even though it's not my favourite tune of all time, it's still for me the tune that sums up trance itself better than any other
2. Robert Nickson - Spiral (2004)
Again, about as close to perfect as trance could be, melodic synths to die for blended with a crisp bassline that can work early on or late in a set seamlessly
3. Med - In You
I've spouted enough about this tune by now so I'll be brief - the rarest of all tunes, that is, to say, probably perfect in every way
Honourable mention to Rank 1 - Airwave

William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten remix): As Laz says, if one tune sums up what Trance is all about, then this is it. Trance was originally based on classical music, and was given its name because the powerful synths were supposed to leave you in a Trance-like state - and this tune sums that up perfectly. The breakdown really pulls you into the tune and makes you lose yourself in the tune for a couple of minutes, and as its based around a classical tune, it sums up the genre perfectly. Unfortunately, the days of Trance tunes like this are gone. Even the best of current day Trance can't be compared to the late 90's, big melodic riff sound.
O'Callaghan & Kearney - Exactly: Its one of the very few 'real' Trance tunes since the late 90's that has had a massive impact on me. Again, the way the tune builds up, and then kicks into an almighty breakdown, for me, sums up what Trance should be all about. Very few tunes over recent years have given me goosebumps - but this one never fails.
Vascotia - Calibro: Again, another tune which sums up what Trance should be all about. Powerful, driving intro's that suddenly kick into a massive, euphoric, breakdown. I thought this track was very under-rated when it came out - it seemed to have very little support, but it has all the hallmarks of a 'proper' Trance tune.
Hi everyone nice new tracks that i've heard so far:
Ian Carey "Redlight"
Groove Cutter "My Shooter"
Kevin Weg "Dead Radio"
Control One "Just A Little Bit"
Ragsy vs. Laurent Konrad "This Beat Is"
Phonjaxx "Music And You"
Francois Laurent "Bordertown"
Selu Vibra-Divine (Original Mix)
Mario Piu-Devotion (DJ Arabesque Remix)
Gabrielle-Rise (Matt Darey Remix)
Solar Stone-Seven Cities (Armin Van Buuren Vocal Mix)
Paul Van Dyk-Nothing But You
I like the majority of the tunes mentioned ITT. If I was to pick 3 offhand, they'd be:
Armin van Buuren presents Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound Of Goodbye (Armin's Tribal Feel) - I have such an affinity with this tune, ever since I first heard it in 2001. On its own, the tune is good but nothing mind-blowing. That female vocal however... it really makes the tune. Every time I hear it now, it invokes the exact same emotional reaction as if it were the first time I heard it all over again. Probably have a fair few different feelings that I would associate with this tune, not all of them good, but they are part of my story, and for that this tune is unforgettable.
Gouryella - Gouryella (Original Mix) - What can be said about this tune without throwing a bucketload of cliches into the mix? For some weird reason, my eyes well up a little as that breakdown sinks in. Haven't given this tune a listen in a while, might have to dust it off again to bring back the memories.
John O'Callaghan presents Mannix - Dream On (Original Mix) - Not saying that this is one of my top 3 trance tunes of all time (though I am a big fan of it), but Dream On, for me, has all the hallmarks of what I'd expect from a good trance tune. Banging it, but not overboard, and a nice little riff leading into a quality breakdown. I could have picked out one of a fair few (relatively) recent tunes to take this slot, but I randomly picked this one out.
A few brief honourable mentions: Tillmann Uhrmacher - On The Run (Ocean to Shore Club Extended Mix) Minimalistix - Close Cover (Original Mix) William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix) Art of Trance - Madagascar (Original Mix)
