Is it possibly to make the hide function active!! Basically so we can hide the links when you place a mix up for download until somebody leaves a message in the thread! This in turn should make a few more people sign up!!

I don't think i've come across that option before mate. Is that something available on VBulletin forums? If so, can you send me a link to a forum that uses that option so that I can check it out?

I've seen it used before.

It's much the same as other forum that block viewing unless you join.

Ah I think I know the one you mean. You mean where people have to register before they can view any content whatsoever on the forum?

If so, i'll read up on that! I think I read in the Vbulletin manual that if anywhere is blocked from guests, then search engine spiders can't access it either - which would mean that our rankings would be severely hit once the search engines have got the site listed.

If it doesn't affect ranking though, I'll turn it on - its a useful function that can also help reduce the amount of spammers.

No, I know what Dave is on about. it won't effect the rankings, the feature that Dave is on about is used for registered memebers of the board eg if you're registered on the forum it will ask you to reply in the thread to unhide the download links etc. when you reply you're able to view the whole thread then. As for the guests, well, they can't post anyway ... unless of course the message board has been set to allow guests to post, if so they would need to do the same as the registered memebers ... reply to the thread to see the download links etc. I Hope that made sense.

I've seen it done on a few forums. I'm not sure how you set that feature though, I don't think it can be done with Vbulletin tbh. I've seen it used mostly with Invasion Boards.

I'm going to look into that myself for passion actually.
