If, like me, you've experienced the Mix Vault player crashing when you've tried to listen to mixes in Internet Explorer 7, then you might find this cure useful. Its not a bug in the Mix Vault player - its an IE7 issue. Here's the solution:
It appears that most users who continue to use the Flash 8 plugin in IE7 (Internet Explorer 7) are unaffected. But when these users upgrade to Flash 9 or install MSN Live Messenger — which in turn insists on installing Flash 9, there the upgraded software makes its way into the system.
Unfortunately, when the software is installed through MSN Live, it appears that the installation is faulty and this eventually results in IE7 crashing when multiple tabs are open and one or more of the tabs is displaying Flash based content.
Solution - Reinstall Flash Cleanly:
To reinstall Flash, you need to uninstall the software - and this can only be done one way!
To remove Flash Player, follow the steps below:
1. simply download and run the uninstaller - which can be found here:
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...ash_player.exe
2. Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it (for example, your desktop).
3. Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player are still in memory.
4. Run the uninstaller. This will remove Adobe Flash Player from all browsers on the system.
Note: The uninstaller cannot remove files currently in use. If you have any instances of the player open in your web browsers, instant messaging clients, stand-alone SWFs, or projectors, then the uninstaller will complete but some files may not be deleted. If this occurs, then close all of your applications and run the uninstaller again to ensure that all files are removed.
5. Re-boot your PC
To cleanly re-install Flash:
6. Install Flash from this link:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash **BEWARE** - By default, a box is ticked which will also download the Yahoo! toolbar. If you DO NOT wish to install the Yahoo! toolbar (I recommend that you don't! - Its irritating), then please UNTICK the Yahoo! toolbar installation box.
7. Re-boot your PC.
The Mix Vault player should now work correctly without any issues. This method has been tested and DOES cure the problem. If you still have issues, then repeat this process again as its highly likely that your PC still had Flash running in its memory when you tried to un-install it
