Default Loss of appetite....

Does anyone else suffer from severe loss of appetite now and again?

I'm really not eating well at the moment. I've not eaten my lunch at work for over a week (even though i'm starving. My stomach is rumbling like mad at the moment, yet i've just thrown my lunch in the bin). I'm eating my tea when i go home, but i'm picking about with it and taking ages to eat it.

Two weekends ago, I watched the Ashes around a mates house. I got a few drinks in and bought a pizza (which I really fancied) - yet when I started eating it, I ate one slice and threw the rest in the bin. Normally i'll cane pizza!

The weird thing is, i'll just have an odd moment where I'll eat 3 biscuits or a packet of crisps without any problems - but then an hour later, I won't want to face anything again.

So, does everyone have this from time to time, or is my body telling me that something is wrong?

I don't feel ill - I'm just not really wanting to eat at the moment.

Nope, we all go through phases. Your body might be craving something but you haven't figured out what it is yet.

Also try not to eat big binge meals. Instead eat little and often. As human beings society has deemed that we shall have three meals a day when in truth we should be eating throughout the day and when we feel like it.

Nothing wrong with you mate just make sure your eating something and if your not eating much make sure it's good for you.

Maybe it's your body saying it wants to lose weight

I've always been a funny one with food. Used to drive my parents mad by insisting I'd eat when I was hungry and not just because it was a certain time of day (which even now still makes far more sense to me).

What sounds weird at your end though is that you're hungry but still not fancying anything.

If you're concerned then I'd go see your GP for advice, but if you make sure you take vitamins and/or drink plenty of water in the meantime you shouldn't do yourself too much damage I hope. And so long as you're eating something, even if it isn't a lot, you should be OK I'd have thought.

If you're hungry enough you'll eat your own shoes so I wouldn't be too concerned about that side of things though!

But if pizza suddenly isn't appetising then perhaps there's no hope for ya!

Jesus - I wish I had that - the last few weeks I've been totally the opposite - I can't stop eating! I've pilled loads of weight on too it's horrible. I can't not eat cos I'll go dizzy and feel sick.

Hmm yeah, I don't feel ill so I don't think its much, I think its one of two things. Its either because, i'm a bit tired of eating the same things regularly (i'm a fussy eater - always have been, always will be. I don't eat any vegetables, spicy things, foreign things or anything I can't pronounce....). My diet is fairly limited, so its not unusual for me to have something one week, and then again the week after, and the week after that...

I've been a bit down in the dumps recently too with a couple of things on my mind, so perhaps its that too. It could even be a combination of the two. Who knows...

Cheers chaps (and chapette)

If there's things on your mind, worrying etc then that'll affect your eating habbits...

It might be because you are experiencing lack of sleep. When you are not getting enough sleep, even if you are hungry, you would feel 'too tired' to even eat.
Other than that, have you been taking medicine of some sort? If no, then you are suffeing from some kind of mental disturbance - something like a break up with a girl, family problem, friends problem, or money problem.

Whenever you can't eat or doesn't feel like eating, there must be a reason. Something happened in your personal life, and it's only you who could find out what the problem is.

My advice is get enough rest, wallop a litre of Chivas, Jack Daniels or Black Label, you'l be fine the next day. Peace!

I don't know why - but I am there with ya mate. I guess the stress of this breakup is making me not hungry. I find myself eating 2 meals a day (cause we all need to eat) but the second typically I force down or makes me feel really fat.

And for the past few days I've gotten away with only 1 meal.
