fluidz trance 27 4 08: listen online

Hi there everybody from all sides of the globe.
I'm Ben, a dance music producer, who works entirely solo using a laptop and a midi keyboard plus a handful of synths.

I've come up with lots of track uptil now and quite frankly most of them have been ****e, doesnt anything sound great when you've been listening to it over and over for hours upon hours, until u go back to it a week after then it all sounds quite too disappointing.

Anyway, today i spent a good 10 hours non stop trying to amend my ideas and produce something better, so heres my result. Not a completely finished track but 75% complete.

I havn't read music theory and i'm still a noob when it comes to compression so compressions outta the window on this track. But i'm reading all the books i can find at the moment.

Please take a listen and if this track gets u moving let me know, for my own sake, if not then let me know where i'm going wrong so I can ideally improve.

Of course theres always room for improvement. My fills for one.

Previously I worked on a remix of a track named Aled Jones - Walking in the air which resulted in (type djfluidz into youtube) to see the track.

Thanks and peace out.

Hiya,

I like some of the sounds in this - particularly the big clangy bell lead sound.

The kick sounds ok from what I can hear, but I think the levels of the other drums are way to high and the samples aren't great - you need to try and get all the percussion elements to sit together more comfortably - not easy!

Maybe you'd consider using a hihat loop with a bit of a groove to it as opposed to individual samples - everything sounds a bit jerky.

Also the bass is a bit all over the place - it's worth spending some time on trying to get a good kick and bass groove going at the very start. Again, getting those two elements to sit together is not easy and it's something that I personally spend a long time trying to get right.

Just a couple of ideas - hope that's useful, mate.

Yeah it's not actually that bad mate - quite like it. As nervous testpilot said, the main lead bell sound is nice. I like the guitar piece too.
I think with some more work with percussion and it'd sound a lot less "jerky". I create my own loops and use about 5 or 6 of them all sat just nicely together. You don't want anything to stand out too much.

Not bad at all mate - looking forward to hearing some more work on it!
