Default DJing with CD Decks

Me again!

Just a question for the CD Jocks out there.
Though I'm not a CD DJ yet I'm still planning on getting a CD deck over Christmas.

So how do you organise your tracks?
Do you put a number of MP3s onto one CD and if so how do you catalogue them?
Or do you created individual CDs for your tracks?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Apples!

This is how i'm cataloguing mine at the moment:

Funky House - A-Z
Pre-2000 Trance A-Z
General Trance A-Z
Hard Trance - A-Z
Tech-Trance - A-Z
Techno - A-Z
Bootlegs - A-Z
Accapellas - A-Z

I then put between between 8 to 10 tracks per CD, and burn 2 copies of each CD, so that if I want to mix two tracks together that happen to be on the same CD, then I can do so because i've got two copies.

I've got a mega-cd wallet that holds 400 CD's, so that will, eventually, allow me to store the vast majority of my collection.

I've still got the task of converting all my Vinyl to CD though which should be complete by the year 2035

but I was on Juno the other night and I just can't justify the paying 5.99 for a vinyl record and the limited selection on offer.

I keep browsing Trackitdown.net and the number of tracks available in the style I really like is shocking. i just can't get the same choice on vinyl anymore.

For example the Dedicated label. I loved the Beyond Unreal track 'Rhythm' and kept an eye out for any new productions from them. Nothing...

Then whilst checking out an MP3 site I found that Dedicated had released loads more tracks.
Also the fact you can download and have it there straight away is too good to pass up.

It doesn't change the fact though that I love vinyl...it's purely a forced decision.

As many tracks i can fit on as long as total length doesnt go over 79 minutes. Then do two of each cd.

I only put 1 release on each cd

and then put them in the cd folder in order of hardness.

I also make a back up copy of all my tracks on to the least amount of cd's so 10 tracks per cd just as a back up and put that in the back of the cd wallet

Yep that sounds like the way I would do it. Though I'd divide them like I do my records into genres.

Maybe a couple of tracks to a CD from the same producer or remixes so it's more like vinyl. It's not like CD-Rs aren't cheap these days.

Right now I am burning one track per CD, and organizing them into alphabetical order. I have a really good memory for names, so it seems to work for me.

One track per CD for me too (or several remixes of the same track). Have no real order to them at the moment. I started off sorting them by hardness, but then got lazy and it's now just by date of download.
And I haven't started to convert vinyl to CD yet

Ditto!!

There is nothing worse then being in a dark clubbing searching down lists on the cd's just to find a track!! I always have a good sort before a gig and only take about 200 tunes with me as well.
